introduction | weapons | items | medals | gameplay

One of those multiplayer features of Quake 3 that were talked about on the Introduction page is a set of medals that players can collect in single player and multiplayer modes. In single player, your medals are kept for as long as you have the game and can be viewed at any time in the game's menus. In multiplayer, you keep your medals until the end of each match.

Accuracy Accuracy

This medal is given only at the end of a single player round. It indicates that more than half of the player's shots hit home. In calculating this, it excludes the gauntlet for obvious reasons.

Excellent Excellent

This medal is awarded when the player gains two frags within two seconds. It applies to all modes of play, including single player and multiplayer. It is also displayed above the player's head for a short amount of time. The announcer will shout "excellent" to the player when he receives this award.

Frags Frags

This award is given when the player gets 100 frags in single player mode. These are given throughout the single player game and apply to the total number of frags you have logged. In other words, you don't have to get 100 frags in one match, you just have to get a total of 100 frags in any number of matches.

Gauntlet Gauntlet

This medal is given to a player when that player successfully frags someone with the gauntlet. It applies to single player and multiplayer modes. The announcer will shout "humiliation" to both the player and the victim. An icon will appear above the player's head for a short period of time.

Impressive Impressive

This is given when the player achieves two consecutive hits with the railgun. Again, this applies to all modes of play. The announcer will shout "impressive" to the player who made the hit, and an icon will appear over that player's head.

Perfect Perfect

You get this medal when you finish a round without dying. Obviously, it's quite hard to get if you're playing on a hard skill level, so it's quite valuable. It's only available in single player.
