DM - The Base 1.60 MB
This is a pretty sizable map that combines tech and gothic elements. There is a good combination of verticle fighting and long, twisting halls. Just about every weapon and item in the game is in here somewhere, so things can get pretty exciting with a lot of players.

DM - NGA Tourney 2.00 MB
This gothic-style map is fairly large in size, and probably best suited for a larger number of players rather than a 1v1 match. Its open spaces and winding halls give players plenty of room to move around in. The fog brings the framerate down, but it also adds an element of excitement to the map. The gothic design has a lot of fine details.

DM - Sewage Treatment Plant 2.00 MB
This is a fairly sizable map based on a sewage treatment facility. It's a good mix of small, winding halls and expansive, open rooms. The weapons are all pretty small, so there's a lot of strategy involved -- and there are plenty of places to hide. This one's best for larger numbers of players, but a couple of people could have a good hunt-and-kill game here.

DM - The Coliseum 900 KB
This is a really small, one-room map that - as the name suggests - is laid out like a Roman coliseum. The pillars in the lower ground give players something to hide behind, and the upper area can serve as a sniping point if you can manage to rocket jump up there. Each player starts behind a gate with some powerups, ammo, and a weapon. It's great for LAN's, and can support just about any number of players and still be a lot of fun.

CTF - Flags & Stripes 1.00 MB
This space-style CTF map is fairly small in size, and places a very large emphasis on vertical movement. It's definitely a better map for smaller teams, as there is literally nowhere to hide. The large number of powerups ensures a fast-paced game.

CTF - Q3DM1 CTF 1.50 MB
Here's an interesting take on Q3DM1 - the original map was mirrored and turned into a CTF arena. Some new hallways have been added in the neutral areas, and the flags are placed in the mouths. The gameplay is surprisingly good... it kinda makes you wonder why id didn't think of this before.

CTF - Q3DM17 CTF 1.60 MB
This is yet another take on a packaged map, Q3DM17. This mirrored and expanded version serves as a CTF battleground where the flags are kept on each railgun platform. Weapon and item placement may be just a bit too much for smaller numbers of players (there are two railguns and two megahealths), but the map can be a lot of fun.

DM - Citadel Insatiable 4.70 MB
This is a well-styled gothic map that brings some really interesting elements into the game. Larger, open areas are connected by smaller, winding hallways, and a lot of vertical fighting is seen. Despite its complexity, the map is only divided into two or three main areas, so smaller numbers of players won't find themselves too lonely - it can handle large numbers with ease, though.

CTF - Ghosts of Stroggos 7.40 MB
This is a unique CTF map that brings some familiar Quake 2 elements to Quake 3. The area is quite large, and there are a lot of halls and rooms to explore in... so larger numbers of players would make for a better game. From ships flying outside to the famous stacks of crates, Ghosts of Stroggos brings back lots of memories.

CTF - Kinterra1 16.0 MB
Big? Huge? Enormous? Those don't even give it justice. Let's just say that this has to be the largest map ever made for Quake 3... at least, it's the largest I've ever seen before. It's very reminiscent of Team Arena, and consists of some gothic castles tucked into gigantic canyons. There are tons of unique elements, including a waterfall, colored stained glass windows, cloud shadows, and more. Most travel is done outside through the valleys, but there are quite a bit of halls and rooms in the castles as well. The only problem with this map is that it runs pretty slowly because of its complexity. Do I even need to say that this is best for larger numbers of players..?

DM - Mouth Full of Poison 2.60 MB
This is a centralized FFA map that lends itself to smaller numbers of players. It consists of a maze-like pattern of tight halls and a few outdoor areas that connect them. Weapon placement is quite good, and there aren't too many items laying around (item placement takes the size into consideration). The red and blue theme makes it feel like a team-based map... the lighting is beautifully done.

CTF - Could you donate me a sock please? 2.40 MB
The name is weird, and so is the map... but that's not to say it isn't beautiful. The curved gothic architecture seen here is very well-done, and the large halls flow nicely into one another. The bases are symmetrical and connected by a smaller outside area. Although the map is fairly large, it's more suited for smaller teams because of its centralized flow.
