Player's Guide

introduction | weapons | items | gameplay

Do you keep getting axe murdered by that white guy named "Player" who keeps asking how to enable mouse look? Does the word "buckshot" repeatedly appear next to your name in the obituaries? Do YOU even know how to enable mouse look? Whatever your trouble, never fear... this guide has everything you need to know. Why buy a book when you can get the same information for free?

Quake 1, the game that started it all, was released in 1996. Quake (like many other id Software titles) revolutionized the gaming industry by offering the first true 3D engine ever seen in a first person shooter. The chiefly single-player game offered something else that many other games never did: a decent multiplayer mode that let you play online. Unfortunately, since the focus was on single player, this mode was far from perfect - but some time later, a program called QuakeWorld was released. QuakeWorld turned Quake 1 into a fantastic multiplayer experience and still remains popular today.

It should be noted that this guide only covers the multiplayer portion of Quake 1, not the single player episodes.
