December 28, 1999: It's finally done! The Quake 3 section and the Quake 3 guide are done, and it's about time. I ran into all kinds of problems, but it's finally up and working! Check it out in the Quake 3 section or at this address: http://www.denken.com/dzone/q3dmatch.htm
There are a couple of images missing, but that's okay, don't worry! Read the post below:
-Dr.Gibbs
December 28, 1999: There are a couple graphic problems, including the title on the Quake 3 section, but all is well! I should have them fixed either today or tomorrow.
-Dr.Gibbs
December 26, 1999: Looks like things will be moving again tomorrow. The Quake 3 section should be up by then, so thing won't be so messy. Sorry you can't get to the Q3test section anymore - just use this link: http://www.denken.com/dzone/q3test.htm
-Dr.Gibbs
December 26, 1999: Back to work! Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. Plenty of copies of Quake 3 flying around, I'm sure! The staff section is done, if you checked your email before reading this you already know. If you haven't, check your email for the address. Anyone who wants to join still can - just use the link at the left!
-Dr.Gibbs
December 24, 1999: First off, I'd like to wish everyone a merry Christmas... believe it or not, I'm going to stop fraggin and working on the site for a couple days and catch up with family. Just thought I'd make this post and let you know that the Quake 3 Player's Guide is DONE. Right now I am having a couple of the staff members read through it and debug it, so it should be online pretty quick. It's over ten thousand words long, so it should keep you busy for awhile. Once it is completely done, things can get moving here again. The newsletter, posts here. I am also adding a new staff section and some screenshots and files this weekend so look out for those. Happy holidays - Doc out.
-Dr.Gibbs
December 21, 1999: I'm sure you have noticed the Q3Test screenshot pages are a little slow to load. Well... heh... you were loading all of the 640x480 pictures instead of the small thumbnails. I fixed them all and uploaded the pages this morning, so if you gave up looking through the screenshots before go back and try again! I promise, it's a whole lot faster!
-Dr.Gibbs
December 19, 1999: Argh! I have to stop promising things. I'm starting to sound a little like Microsoft... hehe. It's coming along pretty good, with Quake 3 now out I have to do an entire section which is not easy. For those of you who haven't gotten any response from me or anyone else, don't worry. I have tons of emails all stacked up and I will go through them all this week. Thanks for your patience :)
-Dr.Gibbs
December 10, 1999: Things are coming along quickly. The Quake 1 and Quake 2 sections are done, and as soon as I get my retail copy (still coming in the mail) the Quake 3 section will also be done. By the middle of next week things will be going again - hang in there!
-Dr.Gibbs
December 06, 1999: Sorry guys, I'm going to have to officially shut things down for a few days. A lot of information is still available, but none of us will be around for awhile. Here's what's coming:
- New Quake 3 Section
- Easier Interface
- New Download Sections
- Improved Navigation
- Bug Fixes
As you can see, things are going to get messy. Since Quake 3 is out now, I figure this is the best time to do this as everyone is finding something better to do than come here - play some Q3A! See ya guys later.-Dr.Gibbs
December 05, 1999: Some site news today: along with Quake 3 will be a lot of improvements. New graphics, interfaces, and more are coming... plus an entire Quake 3 section! There will also be a staff section for those of you waiting for it. Things have been going slow because I've been busy with all the new stuff, sorry!
-Dr.Gibbs
December 04, 1999: New file system is coming - for those of you looking for files, they are coming. I have been developing a new interface so they won't be around for at least a week, but I promise they will be here soon!
-Dr.Gibbs
December 04, 1999: Sorry about the newsletter - once again, it's late. It was supposed to come today but I ended up being too busy. I have most of it done and I'll try to get it out tomorrow.
-Dr.Gibbs
December 04, 1999: QUAKE 3 RELEASED. Quake 3 has been released in a lot of stores now, which means preorders are coming soon. Good deal! The new demo is a useless download so don't even bother with it.
-Dr.Gibbs
December 03, 1999: New Quake 3 Demo - The official demo has been released by Id. I don't personally think you should download it, as it is not any different from the demotest. There are so many servers running Quake 3 now the demo is just about useless except for bots.
-Dr.Gibbs
December 01, 1999: QUAKE 3 UNLEASHED DECEMBER 5. That's right, Activision supposedly put out an official press release today stating Quake 3's official release date is now December 5. That's just a few days away, so expect to see it by next week!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 30, 1999: Quake 3 release Soon? Most of you have probably heard of the December 12 release date for Quake 3: Arena, but Activision is talking about releasing the game even earlier if "all goes well". They want to have a simultaneous release here in the United States and in other countries around the world. It might just happen next week.
-Dr.Gibbs
November 28, 1999: The largest collection of Quake 3 screenshots on the Internet is now up and running! There are over 200 screenshots, so take a look!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 26, 1999: Nightmare Contest Winner
BUnK got 49 frags in just 10 minutes - nice job! Here's his picture:

I should also mention nEW JaCk who came in second with 35 frags. The rest of the entries had scores lower than 35, but were all higher than me... hey, it was my first time with the bots. Anyway, nice work guys!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 24, 1999: The picture, file, and idiot of the week are going to start this Friday, don't worry!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 24, 1999: QUAKE 3 DEMO SOON!! - Graeme Devine updated his plan file today, giving us some pretty useful information for those of you involved in the CDKey issue. Here's what he said:
"I'm working on updating the full demo today. We'll bash on it a bit and get it out there over the next few days. Once it's out there I'll be updating the cdkey authorize server to the final version. Unfortunately this is not compatible with the demo test, so you'll need to upgrade to either the full version of Q3A or download the new demo."
-Dr.Gibbs
November 24, 1999: The Nightmare Contest is over and we have some pretty good results! A couple graphic "experts" are reviewing the top entries as I speak... the results should be posted tonight. If not tonight, definitely tomorrow!
-LordDeimos
November 22, 1999: Well, everything's up now! With a couple exceptions (Quake 2 screenshots, for example) everything is up and running. I went through for three hours and fixed all the gramatical errors, too, so now the stuff doesn't make us look like retards!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 20, 1999: BEAT DR.GIBBS!!
Can you beat him? Probably. But we are going to find out just how good you are... here's the idea. Run a nightmare game with four other bots in q3dm1. The bots should be: Major, Sarge, Daemia, and Stripe. See how many frags you can get in a time of 10, and take a screenshot. Send the shot as a JPEG to dzone@denken.com. TGA files will not be accepted. Good luck! Entries must be received by 11:59 PM EST on Monday, November 22.
See Dr.Gibb's picture...
-LordDeimos
November 14, 1999: Sorry about this, guys. I should have mentioned this before, but the content on this site is unedited! The spelling and grammar are basically horrible because when I type fast, I just don't pay attention. I am going to go through and fix it all tomorrow so please do not think badly of me :)
-Dr.Gibbs
November 14, 1999: John Carmack stated in tonight's work log that the Q3Test Demo is going to be available within a couple hours. No joke! If all goes well I'll let you know tomorrow.
-Dr.Gibbs
November 13, 1999: The newsletter is normally sent out on Fridays, I'm sorry I couldn't get that out. I will try to get it by tomorrow. It's not going to be much right now, but it will be a LOT better once things get going!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 13, 1999: Stomped.com has released three more character sketches, in case you haven't heard!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 12, 1999: Don't forget to volunteer! We need people to gather news, write articles, make news posts, and more. You have absolutely no obligation, work whenever you feel like it. You will get your own profile page plus a free link in the Links section.
Sign up here if you're interested!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 12, 1999: We will be hopefully hosting Id's worklogs sometime this weekend. Thanks to the guys over at Stomped.com for helping out with that. Look for them in a day or two!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 11, 1999: Sorry about the bugs in the Quake 2 section (and they are plentiful). It is the only section that is not entirely done. Those of you coming from Q3Center should know that the Contact form DOES work now! Thanks!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 10, 1999: Okay, promise after promise had finally paid off. The Deathmatch Zone is now up and operational - for the most part. If you find any problems, please do not hesitate to email me at dzone@denken.com. Thanks for your support!
-Dr.Gibbs
November 10, 1999: Be sure to take a look at the Q3Test section. There are 37 screenshots for you to drool over while we all wait for the demo!
-Dr.Gibbs
August 21, 1999: I don't want to bore you, so I don't have anything in this section yet. Once the site is fully operational, news from previous months (maybe even weeks, depending on how much there is) will be here.
-Dr.Gibbs
June 1, 1999: This site is brand new, and it needs your support! The idea behind this site is to give Quake players a comprehensive look at the game through other player's eyes. Send in any screenshots, hints, codes, stories, or whatever! They will be put on the site for others to read. Come back often, things are always changing, and don't forget to tell your friends! Feel free to browse around... you will have tons of fun, and, who knows, you may learn something new...
-Dr.Gibbs
April 1, 1999: Soon, in this spot, one of the best Quake sites to ever hit the web will stand. When you come here, you will have access to more hints, screenshots, codes, plugins, and information than you can handle! You can improve your deathmatching skills, learn from other players, build levels, but most of all have some fun! The site will contain a whole bunch of stuff sent in by other Quake players like yourself. That's why I need you! If you have anything; codes, hints, screenshots, stories, deathmatch maps, whatever you may have... prepare to send them in! You could even send something in right now, if you like. Just email it to: dzone@denken.com
You should bookmark this link so you can return to it when the site opens. It should be up and running on June 1st. I was going to open it earlier, but I have started to do a Quake 3: Arena section and it is going to take longer than I anticipated. Don't worry, though, it'll be up real soon!
-Dr.Gibbs
