The Scoop

In celebration of Quake 3's first birthday, we decided to hold an appropriate contest... one who's end result would display Quake 3: Arena in all its glory. What better choice than screenshots? For over a month we accepted hundreds of entries from the community, and at the end of the contest our judges narrowed those hundreds of screenshots down to just three winners in each category.

The categories were Funniest, Bloodiest, and Most Definitive. The Funniest category was for just about any screenshot that made you laugh... and the winners sure did. Bloodiest - kind of a contest inside of a contest - was to see just how much blood someone could get on the screen at one time without using a mod. And, finally, Most Definitive: the reason for the contest in the first place. Screenshots in this category had to reflect the nature of Quake 3, the winners were to best display the game as a whole.

Of course, we need to thank the volunteers who helped to organize and judge this contest.
