As they often say, all good things must come to an end. The Deathmatch Zone has been up since May of 1998, and although it's been hectic at times, I've had a lot of fun over the last five years. Unfortunately, I don't really have the time or the interest to keep up with the site anymore.
I've been involved with a lot of other things lately, and The D-Zone has more or less been forgotten. That's the first reason I'm putting it to rest. The second is that I've really always wanted this to be a Quake-only site, and with the Quake series all but gone, it seems appropriate to leave. Quake IV is still in the works, but it probably won't be released for a good number of years -- and with a different team of people developing it, I'm sure it just won't fit.
It's really been a great experience for me in more ways than one. I couldn't have done it without the help of everyone who contributed, and I can't thank all of you enough for supporting this place over the years. The list of names is far too extensive for me to compile, but you know who you are.
I'm going to leave the site as it is, so all of the existing content is going to be kept on this server for as long as possible. I'm closing my email account, so I will no longer be replying to emails or responding to the contact forms. There will also no longer be a newsletter. In short, it's over. I mean that in a good way.
Keep the Quake series alive. Keep on fragging.
